Dear Parents and Caregivers,

It is nearly the time again to welcome you back for another year at Braeside. We are incredibly excited to begin the new year and showcase our building projects that have occurred over the holidays! 2019 promises to be a year filled with golden opportunities for all of our students as we strive to find ways that we can be even better than we have before! We embark on this journey alongside  you, our students and parents. This will be a year of engaging, meaningful and rigorous work in our classrooms, combined with special events and a plethora of extracurricular activities, choir and the Barracudas swimming club certain to encourage our students to be involved and stay connected!

During the 2019 school year, we will continue to build upon and refine our proven foundation of a strong academic focus, especially in Literacy and Numeracy. We will also be implementing a new focus on work standards, presentation and handwriting. Implementation of NSW Modern Cursive will occur throughout the school, with time set aside for formal handwriting lessons. Other new initiatives that support this focus will be outlined in upcoming newsletters and at the Parent Information night on Monday 18th February 2019.

Our staff of highly qualified professional educators and support personnel is committed to providing our students many opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. We invite and encourage students and parents to work in partnership with us to support the growth and development of their children, both academically and socially. The administrative team of myself, Jo Tester and Amber Ward, are available to answer and support you with any queries you may have. Classroom teachers are also very accessible and available to answer queries or questions.

We look forward to a very positive and productive year together! We extend a special, yearlong invitation to our families to join us at school activities and events whenever possible. We value your involvement and support in your child’s education! Your active participation is key to the success of your child during their primary school years.

Please know that we highly value home/school communication here at Braeside. It is vital and plays an integral role in each student’s success. We encourage you to complete and read your children’s diary regularly and contact us if/when the need arises.

Again, I welcome you back for another year, our school is a place alive with much energy, enthusiasm, and a renewed focus on high standards! Here’s to an AWESOME new school year as we work together to make our school a great place to work and learn each day!
